Application of Synthetic Data to the Problem of Anomaly Detection in the Field of Information Security

Artem Igorevich Gurianov
187-200
Abstract:

Currently, synthetic data is highly relevant in machine learning. Modern synthetic data generation algorithms make it possible to generate data that is very similar in statistical properties to the original data. Synthetic data is used in practice in a wide range of tasks, including those related to data augmentation.

The author of the article proposes a data augmentation method that combines the approaches of increasing the sample size using synthetic data and synthetic anomaly generation. This method has been used to solve an information security problem of anomaly detection in server logs in order to detect attacks.

The model trained for the task shows high results. This demonstrates the effectiveness of using synthetic data to increase sample size and generate anomalies, as well as the ability to use these approaches together with high efficiency.

Keywords: synthetic data, anomaly detection, information security, anomaly generation, data augmentation, machine learning.

Abstract:

International and Russian-language data sources that provide information about Russian research-related organizations are considered. It is demonstrated that Russian-language data sources contain more information about Russian research-related organizations than most international data sources, but this information remains unavailable for English-language data sources. Experiments on comparison and integration of information about Russian research organizations in international and Russian data sources are outlined. Data sources such as GRID, Russian and English chapters of Wikipedia, Wikidata and eLIBRARY.ru are considered. The work is an intermediate step towards the creation of an open and extensible knowledge graph.

Keywords: multi-lingual knowledge graphs, identity resolution, research-related organizations, correctness.

Methods and Algorithms for Increasing Linked Data Expressiveness (Overview)

Olga Avenirovna Nevzorova
808-834
Abstract: This review discusses methods and algorithms for increasing linked data expressiveness which are prepared for Web publication. The main approaches to the enrichment of ontologies are considered, the methods on which they are based and the tools for implementing the corresponding methods are described. The main stage in the general scheme of the related data life cycle in a cloud of Linked Open Data is the stage of building a set of related RDF- triples. To improve the classification of data and the analysis of their quality, various methods are used to increase the expressiveness of related data. The main ideas of these methods are concerned with the enrichment of existing ontologies (an expansion of the basic scheme of knowledge) by adding or improving terminological axioms. Enrichment methods are based on methods used in various fields, such as knowledge representation, machine learning, statistics, natural language processing, analysis of formal concepts, and game theory.
Keywords: linked data, ontology, ontology enrichment, semantic web.

Bibliographic Database Ratings and White Lists

Tatyana Alekseevna Polilova
640-670
Abstract:

Currently, Russian institutions are almost completely disconnected from Western information resources and services related to the publication of scientific journals. In such conditions, the task of replacing the departed services, reorientation to domestic scientific journals, Russian online library resources has become particularly actual. In the largest bibliographic database the eLibrary.ru, focused on Russian-language scientific publications, collected information about almost 15 thousand Russian-language journals. In the eLibrary.ru there is an analytical system "Russian Science Citation Index" that processes metadata of articles from more than 5 thousand Russian scientific journals. Is the eLibrary.ru ready to serve as a national bibliographic database? For what reason "white lists" of journals appear in Russian organizations?

The main problem of the RSCI is the quality of the constructed ratings of scientific journals. The methods of calculating ratings over the past years have caused certain criticisms. The paper provides an example of a rating of journals from the section "Mathematics" built in the RSCI. Journals that are little known among professional mathematicians were in the first positions. Serious deformations in the ratings of the eLibrary.ru undermine the confidence of scientists in the assessments of the credibility of Russian journals proposed by the eLibrary.ru. The reaction of some universities and scientific organizations is quite expected: organizations are beginning to introduce their own criteria for the success of the publication activities of employees associated with the publication of articles in journals from the so-called "white lists". The white list of journals is compiled, as a rule, by the expert councils of the organization specifically for each discipline and scientific direction. Scientometric indicators may be taken into account when compiling white lists, but they are not the primary criterion for the selection of journals. White lists can now become a reasonable addition to the ratings of bibliographic databases.

Keywords: scientific publication, rating of journals, thematic classification, impact factor, multidisciplinary, bibliographic reference, white list of scientific journals.

List of HAC: User Interface in the RSJ Database and ELibrary.ru

Tatyana Alekseevna Polilova
43-64
Abstract:

The List of peer-reviewed scientific journals of the Higher Attestation Commission is gradually turning into a complex information system based on the normative documents of the Higher Attestation Commission, bibliometric data eLibrary.ru, decisions of the expert councils of the Higher Attestation Commission and working groups engaged in the analysis, ranking and categorization of the journals of the List. The Russian Scientific Journals (RSJ) database created by RIEP can become a system that serves the requests of different categories of users related to the topic of dissertation defense. So far, the RSJ has implemented the interface of a representative of the editorial board of the journal and the interface of a member of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission. It is desirable to include in the RSJ an open interface addressed to the degree applicant to verify compliance with the requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission for publications in journals from the List. With the established mutual exchange of data between RSJ and eLibrary.ru, the applicant's interface with the designated functionality can be organized in the eLibrary.ru user environment.

Keywords: scientific journal, information system, bibliographic database, HAC List, RSJ database, eLibrary.ru, the interface of the scientific degree applicant.

Development of the Information System for Registering the Result of Scientific Institution’ Employees Intellectual Activity

Svetlana Aleksandrovna Vlasova, Nikolay Evgenevich Kalenov
770-793
Abstract:

The article describes a Web-system developed by the authors that implements services related to the formation and provision of multifaceted information about the results of scientific activities (publications, copyright certificates and reports at scientific events) of employees of an organization or a group of organizations. The system is focused both on the end user interested in obtaining specific data, and on the administrative staff, who generates reporting materials for the parent organization. The information base of the system contains metadata on the following classes of objects: persons (authors), organizations and their subdivisions; publications at analytical, monographic and summary levels; copyright certificates; scientific events (conferences, symposia, seminars); reports. The system includes two modules – an administrative one (intended for entering and editing data) and a user one, which is a special search engine that searches for information, visualizes it, provides navigation among related resources and exports data. A distinctive feature of the system is the introduced concept of “equivalent” objects. Objects are considered equivalent if they are represented in the system by different metadata, but referring to the same physical entity. Such objects are “persons” corresponding to one author with different spellings of the surname in the bibliographic descriptions of publications; organizations with different variants of names; articles published unchanged in various languages. In accordance with modern requirements for reporting on publications, the system reflects the sources of research funding, as well as the affiliations indicated in the articles for each author.

339-370
Abstract:

Modern information and communication technologies, elements of digitalization are constantly and rapidly developing, which, in turn, has a direct impact on all spheres of human activity. In the light of recent events related to the collapse of the tourism business due to COVID-19, there is a great scientific interest in the service sector, namely in the field of "digital tourism". Digital tourism relies on the widespread adoption of new technologies such as social media and mobile technologies, smart devices and sensors to collect and use massive amounts of data to create new value propositions. In this regard, the authors set a goal – to present a review of the literature on "digital tourism" from the standpoint of scientific and media discourse. The authors present a comprehensive scientific approach, including the sequential implementation of all stages of the review, from the definition of the terminological core of the interdisciplinary direction, the formation of search queries, cascade search, selection and content analysis of materials to the identification and explication of contexts. The sources of information for preparing the review were publications from academic databases: Web of Science, Science-Direct, Scopus, GoogleScholar, eLibrary, Cyberleninka, as well as materials and publications in Russian-language media – Integrum.

The results obtained by the authors will be useful for scientists in identifying promising areas of research in the field of "digital tourism", as well as deepen their knowledge of mechanisms for searching, collecting and analyzing data and integrated and analytical environments.

Keywords: information and communication technology, digital transformations, digital tourism, eTourism, smart tourism.

The Rating of the Journal in the Bibliographic Database

Mikhail Mikhailovich Gorbunov-Posadov, Tatyana Alekseevna Polilova
1060-1089
Abstract:

The tool for building ratings of scientific journals is one of the popular services of bibliographic databases. The task of building a rating is usually divided into two main subtasks: determining the reference group of journals and calculating the rating indicator for journals of this reference group. Practice shows that for the correct comparison of journals, a necessary condition is to limit the reference group to exclusively journals of a certain subject. In the case of methodological errors made at the stage of selecting a reference group, the values of the journal index in the rating may differ greatly from the expected ones.

For example, in the ranking of journals in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) according to the two-year impact factor in the thematic area “Mathematics”, classical fundamental mathematical journals, contrary to expectations, do not reach the first positions of the rating. The first positions were taken by journals for which mathematics is not the dominant profile discipline. Analysis of statistical data on the subject of published articles and citations in journals that occupy leading positions in the RSCI rating shows that the multidisciplinary nature of these journals significantly influenced the rating indicators.

The noted misunderstanding leads to the idea that in this case, not all the articles of the journal should have been involved in the calculation of the rating, but only those related to this thematic area. At the same time, the existing scheme of thematic classification of directions also raises questions. The "bottom-up" classification, which is gaining popularity and works on a representative array of articles, seems to be more promising. Here thematic clusters are isolated on the basis of the concept of proximity of articles, interpreted as the proximity of their bibliographic links. And further, the thematic affiliation of the article is not assigned by the volitional decision of the author or the editorial board, but is strictly formally calculated on the basis of its bibliographic list.

Keywords: scientific publication, citation, rating of journals, thematic classification, impact factor, multidisciplinary, bibliographic reference, co-citation, bottom-up classification, thematic clustering, Citation Topics.

Authors Identification within the Subject Area in the Semantic Library

Olga Muratovna Ataeva, Vladimir Alekseevich Serebriakov, Natalia Pavlovna Tuchkova
198-217
Abstract:

The peculiarities of the task of authors identifying and determining author's contribution to publications in digital bibliographic codes are considered. The features of the problem of insufficient identification are manifested in the repetition of information, doubling, the presence of authors with completely coincidental names, self-quotation, autoplagiate and plagiarism itself. It is proposed to use publication information that has already been accumulated in the digital library in the form of related object area data and a variety of target thesaurus data, as the author and user of the library. This information contains links whereby keyword contexts, multiple co-authors, and term associations in dictionaries and thesauruses can be used to identify authorship. It is important that an array of scientific publications is considered, since they have an established traditional structure, which allows comparing fixed text elements (annotations, keywords, classifier codes, etc.). Thus, even if the names in the publications are fully matched, the question of authorship can be raised if the publications in the digital library correspond to different subject areas. Resolution of such contradictions is accomplished by evaluating a plurality of links of all elements of secondary publication information. The result of the comparison could be the addition of the author to a specific area, i.e. the extension of the addressee's thesaurus and the author's personal thesaurus, or the appearance of full namesakes in the library, but from different areas of knowledge. It has been shown that modern data analysis tools allow you to evaluate the author's contribution to publication, despite the fact that of course, only the scientific community can evaluate the real contribution to scientific research.

Technology for Filling Subject Ontologies of the Scientific Knowledge Space

Nikolay Evgenievich Kalenov
101-115
Abstract:

Subject ontology in the context of this article is understood as a set of key concepts related to a certain field of science, with their semantic connections, supplemented by indexes of various classification systems describing this scientific field. Subject ontologies are a necessary component of each subspace that is part of the Unified digital space of scientific knowledge (DSSK). This article presents the results of research related to the construction of subject ontologies based on the created automated system for supporting terminological dictionaries and suggests a methodology for identifying new key terms in a particular field of science. The proposed methodology is based on the use of existing classification systems in conjunction with citation databases, such as Web of Science and Scopus for English–language publications and the Russian citation index for Russian-language publications. The methodology involves dividing the scientific field into a number of sections in accordance with the selected classification system, extracting from the CSB the core of articles related to each section, and from the articles - new author's keywords, which should constitute, in combination with the corresponding sections of classification systems, the basis of the subject ontologies of this scientific field.

Keywords: scientific digital space, subject ontology, citation databases, keywords, thesaurus, classification systems.

New Method of Description of Eddy-Covariance Ecologic Data

Raoul Rashidovich Nigmatullin, Alexander Alekseevich Litvinov, Sergey Igorevich Osokin
41-75
Abstract:

In this paper, the authors propose the foundations of an original theory of quasi-reproducible experiments (QRE) based on the testable hypothesis that there exists an essential correlation (memory) between successive measurements. Based on this hypothesis, which the authors define for brevity as the verified partial correlation principle (VPCP), it can be proved that there exists a universal fitting function (UFF) for quasi-reproducible (QR) measurements. In other words, there is some common platform or "bridge" on which, figuratively speaking, a true theory (claiming to describe data from first principles or verifiable models) and an experiment offering this theory for verification measured data, maximally "cleaned" from the influence of uncontrollable factors and apparatus/software function, meet. Actually, the proposed theory gives a potential researcher the method of purification of initial data and finally suggests the curve that periodic and cleaned from a set of uncontrollable factors. The final curve corresponds to an ideal experiment.

The proposed theory has been tested on eddy covariance ecologic data related to the content of CH4, CO2 and water vapors of H2O in the local atmosphere where the corresponding detectors for measuring of the desired gases content are located.

For these tested eddy covariance data associated with the presence in atmosphere two gases CH4, CO2 and H2O vapors there is no simple hypothesis containing a minimal number of the fitting parameters, and, therefore, the fitting function that follows from this theory can serve as the only and reliable quantitative description of this kind of data belonging to the tested complex system. We should note also that the final fitting function removed from uncontrollable factors becomes pure periodic and corresponds to an ideal experiment. Applications of this theory to practical applications, the place of this theory among other alternative approaches, (especially touching the professional interests of ecologists) and its further development are discussed in the paper.

The paper examines the phenomenon of joint creativity of several authors, and provides examples from various fields of activity. The main attention is paid to information technologies: inventions made at the end of the 20th century are analyzed. Their authors are pairs of outstanding specialists who combined the talents of a programmer and a manager. They determined the further development of the IT industry and radically changed the quality of mankind’s way of life. The stories of the emergence of famous computers, operating systems, the World Wide Web, and network navigation tools are briefly described.

Keywords: quasi-reproducible experiments, complex systems, verified partial correlation principle, universal fitting function, quasi-periodic measurements, quasi-reproducible measurements, memory effects, eddy covariance.

Support System for the Selection of Information Sources in Citation Networks

Inna Gennadevna Olgina
76-96
Abstract:

With the advent of network science, it has become possible to explore complex network systems, including social and information networks, by presenting them as graph models. The exponential growth of the total volume of scientific publications determines the relevance of the tasks of analyzing their interrelations. In network science, models and methods related to the field of so-called citation networks are being developed to solve these problems. However, network metrics are not used when analyzing publications in citation databases. The paper considers the issues of creating a decision support system for the selection of information sources based on data on the citation of scientific publications. A software package has been developed for making decisions on determining an important publication in a certain thematic area. The software package is based on a method of ranking publications by importance based on the analysis of citation networks, which allows you to identify publications that do not clearly stand out when ranking based on known bibliometric indicators or known measures of centrality of nodes in their pure form. A study and comparative analysis of software for visualization and research of all types of graphs and social networks has been conducted. Studies have been carried out confirming the effectiveness of the proposed decision support system in the selection of information sources.

Keywords: citation network, publication, scientometry, decision support system, software architecture, network analysis, graph.

Olga Muratovna Ataeva, Vladimir Alekseevich Serebriakov, Natalia Pavlovna Tuchkova
271-291
Abstract: Possibilities of query expansion with subject area thesaurus are discussed. The role of the context defined by thesaurus term links is both to refine the query and to increase the size of the sample on the query. Of particular importance is the process of expanding the query for scientific subject areas where the search based on special terminology. In this case, thesauruses of subject areas must be used to minimize the occurrence of information noise. The proposed approach takes into account the application of similar terminology in various subject areas. Examples of the use of thesaurus of separate sections of equations of mathematical physics and related fields demonstrate the effectiveness of the chosen approach of research. By linking to concepts of information resources of other areas of knowledge, the extension of the information query captures search fields of remote subject areas and various types of data, texts, symbolic, audio and video archives. Research shows that expanding the query based on context semantics improves the search quality of scientific publications in digital information and increases the effectiveness of scientific interdisciplinary research.

Semantic library as a tool of defining a scientific subject area

Olga Muratovna Ataeva, Vladimir Alekseevich Serebriakov
988-1005
Abstract:

The paper considers an information system designed to represent a subject area related to science and its features. Highlighted general concepts for formal descriptions of such a subject area in the knowledge base of the semantic library. The peculiarity of these areas is that the data structure is subject to frequent changes. Therefore, the means of organizing knowledge, which is a semantic library, should be sufficiently universal and not require deep technical knowledge. The paper describes the functionality of the system and its use. For each area, the set of resources can differ both in format and in the set of the resources themselves. The set of concepts that form the description of the library's content should be so universal that it can be adapted to the needs of a particular area. Three levels of metadata are used to represent the data.

Keywords: semantic library, ontology, knowledge representation.

Unified Representation of the Common Digital Space of Scientific Knowledge Ontology

Nikolay Evgenievich Kalenov, Alexander Nikolaevch Sotnikov
80-103
Abstract:

The Common Digital Space of Scientific Knowledge (CDSSK) is a digital information environment aggregating heterogeneous information related to various aspects of scientific knowledge. One of the important functions of the CDSSK is to provide information for solving artificial intelligence problems, which makes it necessary to support data in a structure that complies with the rules of the semantic WEB. The features of the CDSSK are, on the one hand, the polythematics and heterogeneity of content elements, on the other hand, the high dynamics of the emergence of new types of objects and connections between them, which is due to the specifics of the development of science. At the same time, it should be possible to navigate through heterogeneous space resources using semantic links between them. The possibilities of the CDSSK are largely determined by the structure of the ontology of space, the model of which is proposed in this paper. Within the framework of the model, the hierarchical structuring of the CDSSK ontology is carried out; such elements as "subspace", "class of objects", "object", "attributes of an object", three types of pairwise relations of objects or attributes (universal, quasi-universal and specific) are distinguished and defined. The structure of each elements type is determined by a "reference book" of a unified type; specific values of attributes and relationships are contained in dictionaries of a unified structure. A class of "Formats" objects describing the rules for the formation of attributes and values of relationships is allocated. The formalization of CDSSK reference books and dictionaries representations is proposed. The proposed model allows you to simply add new types of objects, of their pairwise relationships and attributes to the space, as needed.
