Taking into Account the Structure of the Document in the Method of Automatic Annotation of Mathematical Concepts in Educational Texts

Konstantin Sergeevich Nikolaev
558-577
Abstract:

The enrichment of educational texts with semantic content (in particular, adding hyperlinks to the pages of the service that displays detailed information about concepts in the text) helps to increase the efficiency of students' assimilation of the material. The existing methods of semantic markup of educational texts do not take into account the structural features of such documents, which leads to excessive recognition of concepts. This article describes the development of the method of automatic annotation of mathematical concepts in educational mathematical texts by adding functionality to account for the structure of an educational document. The main purpose of the method is to process educational materials of the distance education course "Technology for solving planimetric problems". Following a single template when creating course pages allows you to apply an analysis of the web page markup and keywords used by the course creators. The main task in this process is to determine the type of table cell containing text fragments of educational materials. In accordance with the recommendations of the course creators, definitions should be highlighted in the cells containing the task statement, as well as in those blocks where the input data of the task is indicated. The type of table cells is determined by analyzing their attributes and searching for keywords in their contents. This limitation of recognizable text fragments will improve the student's perception of the course pages and improve the quality of learning.

Automation of the creation of the schedule at the university: the mathematical model and methods of implementation

Ришат Ильшатович Хабипов
461-470
Abstract:

The construction of the schedule is the distribution of a discrete set of events in a given time interval, subject to the specified restrictions. The aim of the work is to describe a mathematical model of the automation of the scheduling process in an educational institution. Also the approaches to the compilation of the optimal schedule are considered. In the studied tasks a large amount of initial original information is used, which differs in its composition, and contains a large number of requirements that must be taken into account. Therefore, scheduling refers to the class of NP-complete integer programming problems, which implies that as the number of values of given variables increases, the complexity of the solution will grow exponentially. Note that the quality of the established lesson schedule directly affects the efficiency of the educational process of the university.

The article describes the process of forming the schedule of classes: at the first stage, you need to create an initial schedule based on the existing student contingent and teachers, audiences, as well as a number of additional restrictions; at the second stage, the initial schedule is optimized; at the third stage, it is allowed to adjust the received schedule by university staff.

Keywords: the task of scheduling, algorithms of integer linear programming, educational plans, class schedule.

Varieties of Video Lectures

Felix Osvaldovich Kasparinsky
116-156
Abstract:

The article is devoted to the typology of the main variants of video lectures (https://vimeo.com/showcase/6184718), which differ in didactic value and laboriousness of creation. For each option of video lectures, the key conditions for effective formation and use are determined. Particular attention is paid to the optimization of hardware for the creation of various options for video lectures in full-time and distance learning.

As a basic option, a video recording of a PowerPoint presentation with speech and graphic comments on the slides is considered. The screen (electronic board) videorecording on the left with the lecturer in profile, named ad standard profile version, is recommended for use when there is a shortage of space in the classroom. In the presence of a video camera with optics that ensure the preservation of the detail of images of visual materials, the preferred option for video lecture is a standard frontal one, filmed from the far end of the audience. Didactically optimized editing of video lectures allows you to combine high-quality recording of visual materials of the basic version with mediocre video recordings of the teacher's actions.

Integrative versions of video lectures are created by overlaying the video recording of the teacher's actions over a specially designated invariant place in the design of the slides of the basic version of the video lecture. The options for adapting the design of PowerPoint presentations to form a basic and integrative version of video lectures are proposed. The highest ratio of "didactic quality / labor costs" is achieved when creating integrative video lectures directly in the process of face-to-face and distance teaching.

Keywords: video lecture , integrative video lecture , training video creation, distance learning , face-to-face training, work environment , Microsoft PowerPoint, HyperCam.

Of Neural Network Model Robustness Through Generating Invariant to Attributes Embeddings

Marat Rushanovich Gazizov, Karen Albertovich Grigorian
1142-1154
Abstract:

Model robustness to minor deviations in the distribution of input data is an important criterion in many tasks. Neural networks show high accuracy on training samples, but the quality on test samples can be dropped dramatically due to different data distributions, a situation that is exacerbated at the subgroup level within each category. In this article we show how the robustness of the model at the subgroup level can be significantly improved with the help of the domain adaptation approach to image embeddings. We have found that application of a competitive approach to embeddings limitation gives a significant increase of accuracy metrics in a complex subgroup in comparison with the previous models. The method was tested on two independent datasets, the accuracy in a complex subgroup on the Waterbirds dataset is 90.3 {y : waterbirds;a : landbackground}, on the CelebA dataset is 92.22 {y : blondhair;a : male}.

Keywords: robust classification, image classification, generative adversarial networks, domain adaptation.

Citation Indixes and Assessment of Authors Publication Activity

Alexander Sergeevich Kozitsyn, Sergey Alexandrovich Afonin, Dmitry Alekseevich Shachnev

Abstract:

One way to evaluate the scientific activity of a scientist is to calculate various indicators based on the number of his publications and their citation. In this case, each co-author of the publication receives the same number of points for it. A similar ranking method leads to an artificial increase in the number of co-authors in our publications. This leads to a distortion of ratings, and to a significant decrease in the quality of thematic search. The method presented in the paper allows us to evaluate the contribution of the author to his published works. Approbation of the method was done on the data of the scientometric system IAS ISTINA.

Keywords: ranking, scientometrics, scientometric systems, co-authorship, citation systems, scientific rating.

Using syntax for sentiment analysis of russian tweets

Abstract:

The paper describes our approach to the task of sentiment analysis of tweets within SentiRuEval – an open evaluation of sentiment analysis systems for the Russian language. We took part in the task of sentiment analysis of Russian tweets concerning two types of organizations: banks and telecommunications companies. On both datasets, the participants were required to perform a three-way classification of tweets: positive, negative or neutral.

We used various statistical methods as basis for our machine learning algorithms. Linguistic features produced by our morpho-syntactic analyzer are applied to the classification. Syntactic relations proved to be a crucial feature for any statistical method evaluated, and SVM-based classification performed better than the others. Normalized words are another important feature for the algorithm.

The evaluation revealed that our method proved to be rather successful: we scored the first in three out of four evaluation measures.

Analysis of Word Embeddings for Semantic Role Labeling of Russian Texts

Leysan Maratovna Kadermyatova, Elena Victorovna Tutubalina
1026-1043
Abstract: Currently, there are a huge number of works dedicated to semantic role labeling of English texts [1–3]. However, semantic role labeling of Russian texts was an unexplored area for many years due to the lack of train and test corpora. Semantic role labeling of Russian Texts was widely disseminated after the appearance of the FrameBank corpus [4]. In this approach, we analyzed the influence of the word embedding models on the quality of semantic role labeling of Russian texts. Micro- and macro- F1 scores on word2vec [5], fastText [6], ELMo [7] embedding models were calculated. The set of experiments have shown that fastText models averaged slightly better than word2vec models as applied to Russian FrameBank corpus. The higher micro- and macro- F1 scores were obtained on deep tokenized word representation model ELMo in relation to classical shallow embedding models.

How Entity Name Embedings Affect the Quality of Entity Alignment

Daniil Ivanovic Gusev, Zinaida Vladimirovna Apanovich
52-79
Abstract:

Cross-lingual entity alignment algorithms are designed to look for identical real-world objects in multilingual knowledge graphs. This problem occurs, for example, when searching for drugs manufactured in different countries under different names, or when searching for imported equipment. At the moment, there are several open-source libraries that collect implementations of entity alignment algorithms as well as test data sets for various languages. This paper describes experiments with several popular entity alignment algorithms applied to a Russian-English dataset. In addition to translating entity names from Russian to English, experiments on combining the various generators of entity name embeddings with the various generators of relational information embeddings have been conducted. In order to obtain more detailed information about the results of the EA approaches, an assessment by entity types, the number of relationships and attributes have been made. These experiments allowed us to significantly improve the accuracy of several EA algorithms on the English-Russian dataset.

Computed knowledge base for descrbing information resources in molecular spectroscopy. 5. Expert data quality

А.Ю. Ахлёстин, Н.А. Лаврентьев, А.И. Привезенцев, А.З. Фазлиев
Abstract: It is shown that trust in the content of information resources can be assessed by means of a publishing criterion, with the information recourses being of the trusted and distrusted type. The task of assessment of trust consists of four subtasks: (1) building multisets of physical quantities available in primary data sources, (2) alignment of values of physical quantities, (3) formulation of quantitative restrictions for publishing criterion in different ranges of change of physical quantities, and (4) decomposition of expert data. Spectral data publishing criteria and restrictions required for solving data alignment tasks are outlined. Alignment results have been tabulated. Using vacuum wavenumbers as an example, restrictions inherent in publishing criteria are formulated. The assessment of the content trust obtained from solutions to the tasks of decomposition f expert data are presented as the OWL-ontologies. Building knowledge bases of this kind at virtual data centers intended for data intensive science will provide realization of an automatic selection of spectroscopic information resources exhibiting a high degree of trust.

271-291
Abstract: Possibilities of query expansion with subject area thesaurus are discussed. The role of the context defined by thesaurus term links is both to refine the query and to increase the size of the sample on the query. Of particular importance is the process of expanding the query for scientific subject areas where the search based on special terminology. In this case, thesauruses of subject areas must be used to minimize the occurrence of information noise. The proposed approach takes into account the application of similar terminology in various subject areas. Examples of the use of thesaurus of separate sections of equations of mathematical physics and related fields demonstrate the effectiveness of the chosen approach of research. By linking to concepts of information resources of other areas of knowledge, the extension of the information query captures search fields of remote subject areas and various types of data, texts, symbolic, audio and video archives. Research shows that expanding the query based on context semantics improves the search quality of scientific publications in digital information and increases the effectiveness of scientific interdisciplinary research.

Abstract:

The experience of game studios shows that classical methodologies of software development are poorly implemented in video game development because of the interactive component of this area, related to the correct creation of feedback between the game and the user. In addition, video game development involves a large number of developers from different areas, whose activities must be coordinated in the project.

Despite these differences, video games, like any other developed software, need a development team organization process. In this article we reviewed traditional software development methodologies, as well as modifications specializing specifically in video game development. The most popular methodologies were compared and the quality of their implementation in video game development studios was determined.

Keywords: video game, software engineering, game design.
