Bibliographic Database Ratings and White Lists

Tatyana Alekseevna Polilova
640-670
Abstract:

Currently, Russian institutions are almost completely disconnected from Western information resources and services related to the publication of scientific journals. In such conditions, the task of replacing the departed services, reorientation to domestic scientific journals, Russian online library resources has become particularly actual. In the largest bibliographic database the eLibrary.ru, focused on Russian-language scientific publications, collected information about almost 15 thousand Russian-language journals. In the eLibrary.ru there is an analytical system "Russian Science Citation Index" that processes metadata of articles from more than 5 thousand Russian scientific journals. Is the eLibrary.ru ready to serve as a national bibliographic database? For what reason "white lists" of journals appear in Russian organizations?

The main problem of the RSCI is the quality of the constructed ratings of scientific journals. The methods of calculating ratings over the past years have caused certain criticisms. The paper provides an example of a rating of journals from the section "Mathematics" built in the RSCI. Journals that are little known among professional mathematicians were in the first positions. Serious deformations in the ratings of the eLibrary.ru undermine the confidence of scientists in the assessments of the credibility of Russian journals proposed by the eLibrary.ru. The reaction of some universities and scientific organizations is quite expected: organizations are beginning to introduce their own criteria for the success of the publication activities of employees associated with the publication of articles in journals from the so-called "white lists". The white list of journals is compiled, as a rule, by the expert councils of the organization specifically for each discipline and scientific direction. Scientometric indicators may be taken into account when compiling white lists, but they are not the primary criterion for the selection of journals. White lists can now become a reasonable addition to the ratings of bibliographic databases.

Keywords: scientific publication, rating of journals, thematic classification, impact factor, multidisciplinary, bibliographic reference, white list of scientific journals.

The principles of justice as fairness in the publishing activities in the field of education

46-66
Abstract: The results about the plagiarism problem are presented. The reasons for its distribution in publishing and educational activities and ways of eradication are considered. Such root causes of this phenomenon as: loss of trust tradition in publishing activity with updating authors; insensitivity to publishing ethics of the modern authors grown up in the period of loyalty to plagiarism; commercialization of anti-plagiarism campaigns; weak motivation of authors to publishing activity. The concept about fairness as honest by J. Rawls is proposed to substantiate the methodological approach to solving the problem of dishonesty in publishing, including plagiarism. With its help, the idea about forming of relationships system "publishing-authors" on the basis of the justice principles as honesty is substantiated. The approach to the formation of the ethical framework for relations in the chain "publishing – authors – students – IT-managers – employers" on the basis of the justice principles, such as: equality rights of the requirements about their own benefits, mutual honesty; ethical restrictions on actions, that harm those in the worst position, which are students-readers. The procedure of development and coordination of justice principles in publishing activity with the help of the website of publishing house is offered. These principles should be reflected in the ethical code of publishing.
Keywords: change of authors’ generations, insensitivity to publishing ethics, injustice of publishing houses, creation of justice, justice as cruelty, justice as honesty.

Principles of Multitrading

Felix Osvaldovich Kasparinsky
808-869
Abstract:

Modern software and hardware tools provide unprecedented freedom for a variety of activities in the forex markets, from trading to analyzing the feasibility of models of nonlinear processes in self-organizing systems. To reduce risks and increase the efficiency of interaction with stock market instruments, it is proposed to provide variable adaptability of trading by combining trading strategies using several trading accounts of different brokers, multiple financial instruments, and Complex Indicators Tendencies of price changes. As a result of three years of experimental work, the basic principles of multitrading have been formulated and tested, and an information environment has been compiled, contributing to the development of an individualized trading system. The basic concept of organizing a multitrading information environment: the use of specialized hardware and software systems for strategic analysis and forecasting of price changes for an individual financial instrument, tactical selection of a promising financial instrument from the available set, and effective operating activities with orders of trading accounts. It can be expected that the evolution of the principles of multitrading will lead to the creation of analytical systems for predicting the kinetics of non-equilibrium changes in the characteristic parameters of self-organizing cooperative systems for wide application in biology, cybernetics, economics, and the social sphere.

Keywords: multitrading, trading, forex, technical analysis, investments, work organization, efficiency, financial market, oscillations, forecast.

Creating a Data Processing Ecosystem for Geological Research

Vitaliy Sergeevich Eremenko, Vera Viktorovna Naumova
336-347
Abstract:

This paper discusses heterogeneous geographically distributed computing systems for processing geological data and approaches to organizing interaction with these systems. The systems are classified by the authors into a number of groups based on the main functional capabilities and technological solutions. A description of the main properties for each type of systems is given, including possible ways for interaction.

An approach is proposed for organizing a single workspace with access to heterogeneous geographically distributed computing systems within the ecosystem developed by the authors. The architecture of the proposed solution and the rules of interaction for its participants are described. A software prototype is demonstrated that implements the described principles on the example of several heterogeneous systems for processing geological information.

Keywords: computing and analytical environment, cloud services, web services, software platforms.

New Method of Description of Eddy-Covariance Ecologic Data

Raoul Rashidovich Nigmatullin, Alexander Alekseevich Litvinov, Sergey Igorevich Osokin
41-75
Abstract:

In this paper, the authors propose the foundations of an original theory of quasi-reproducible experiments (QRE) based on the testable hypothesis that there exists an essential correlation (memory) between successive measurements. Based on this hypothesis, which the authors define for brevity as the verified partial correlation principle (VPCP), it can be proved that there exists a universal fitting function (UFF) for quasi-reproducible (QR) measurements. In other words, there is some common platform or "bridge" on which, figuratively speaking, a true theory (claiming to describe data from first principles or verifiable models) and an experiment offering this theory for verification measured data, maximally "cleaned" from the influence of uncontrollable factors and apparatus/software function, meet. Actually, the proposed theory gives a potential researcher the method of purification of initial data and finally suggests the curve that periodic and cleaned from a set of uncontrollable factors. The final curve corresponds to an ideal experiment.

The proposed theory has been tested on eddy covariance ecologic data related to the content of CH4, CO2 and water vapors of H2O in the local atmosphere where the corresponding detectors for measuring of the desired gases content are located.

For these tested eddy covariance data associated with the presence in atmosphere two gases CH4, CO2 and H2O vapors there is no simple hypothesis containing a minimal number of the fitting parameters, and, therefore, the fitting function that follows from this theory can serve as the only and reliable quantitative description of this kind of data belonging to the tested complex system. We should note also that the final fitting function removed from uncontrollable factors becomes pure periodic and corresponds to an ideal experiment. Applications of this theory to practical applications, the place of this theory among other alternative approaches, (especially touching the professional interests of ecologists) and its further development are discussed in the paper.

The paper examines the phenomenon of joint creativity of several authors, and provides examples from various fields of activity. The main attention is paid to information technologies: inventions made at the end of the 20th century are analyzed. Their authors are pairs of outstanding specialists who combined the talents of a programmer and a manager. They determined the further development of the IT industry and radically changed the quality of mankind’s way of life. The stories of the emergence of famous computers, operating systems, the World Wide Web, and network navigation tools are briefly described.

Keywords: quasi-reproducible experiments, complex systems, verified partial correlation principle, universal fitting function, quasi-periodic measurements, quasi-reproducible measurements, memory effects, eddy covariance.

The Typology of Cooperative Mechanics in Multiplayer Videogames

Danil Azatovich Khamatnurov, Aleksey Vitalevich Shubin
328-345
Abstract:

Cooperative mechanics of multiplayer video games are typified. Cooperative game mechanics are the key elements of gameplay design that determine the ways of interaction between players in cooperative gameplay. Existing research in this area is analyzed and the main principles influencing the success of cooperative interaction are identified. Eight types of cooperative mechanics were identified and classified: cooperative, cooperative-emergent, altruistic, socio-economic, complementary, simultaneous control, penalty, and chain mechanics.

The authors concluded that successful cooperative mechanics are built on the principles of complementary roles, the combination of different abilities, and the need to distribute tasks for the sake of achieving a common goal. The proposed classification contributes to the systematization of knowledge in the field of game design and can be useful for developers of multiplayer video games. In the future, the classification can be refined and expanded taking into account the evolution of the industry and the emergence of new forms of cooperation.

Keywords: cooperative mechanics, multiplayer video games, game design, classification.

Formalization of Processes for Forming User Collections in the Digital Space of Scientific Knowledge

Nikolay Evgenvich Kalenov, Irina Nikolaevna Sobolevskaya, Aleksandr Nikolaevich Sotnikov
433-450
Abstract: The task of forming a digital space of scientific knowledge (DSSK) is analyzed in the paper. The difference of this concept from the general concept of the information space is considered. DSSK is presented as a set containing objects verified by the world scientific community. The form of a structured representation of the digital knowledge space is a semantic network, the basic organization principle of which is based on the classification system of objects and the subsequent construction of their hierarchy, in particular, according to the principle of inheritance. The classification of the objects that make up the content of the DSSK is introduced. A model of the central data collection system is proposed as a collection of disjoint sets containing digital images of real objects and their characteristics, which ensure the selection and visualization of objects in accordance with multi-aspect user requests. The concept of a user collection is defined, and a hierarchical classification of types of user collections is proposed. The use of the concepts of set theory in the construction of DSSK allows you to break down information into levels of detail and formalize the algorithms for processing user queries, which is illustrated by specific examples.

The Rating of the Journal in the Bibliographic Database

Mikhail Mikhailovich Gorbunov-Posadov, Tatyana Alekseevna Polilova
1060-1089
Abstract:

The tool for building ratings of scientific journals is one of the popular services of bibliographic databases. The task of building a rating is usually divided into two main subtasks: determining the reference group of journals and calculating the rating indicator for journals of this reference group. Practice shows that for the correct comparison of journals, a necessary condition is to limit the reference group to exclusively journals of a certain subject. In the case of methodological errors made at the stage of selecting a reference group, the values of the journal index in the rating may differ greatly from the expected ones.

For example, in the ranking of journals in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) according to the two-year impact factor in the thematic area “Mathematics”, classical fundamental mathematical journals, contrary to expectations, do not reach the first positions of the rating. The first positions were taken by journals for which mathematics is not the dominant profile discipline. Analysis of statistical data on the subject of published articles and citations in journals that occupy leading positions in the RSCI rating shows that the multidisciplinary nature of these journals significantly influenced the rating indicators.

The noted misunderstanding leads to the idea that in this case, not all the articles of the journal should have been involved in the calculation of the rating, but only those related to this thematic area. At the same time, the existing scheme of thematic classification of directions also raises questions. The "bottom-up" classification, which is gaining popularity and works on a representative array of articles, seems to be more promising. Here thematic clusters are isolated on the basis of the concept of proximity of articles, interpreted as the proximity of their bibliographic links. And further, the thematic affiliation of the article is not assigned by the volitional decision of the author or the editorial board, but is strictly formally calculated on the basis of its bibliographic list.

Keywords: scientific publication, citation, rating of journals, thematic classification, impact factor, multidisciplinary, bibliographic reference, co-citation, bottom-up classification, thematic clustering, Citation Topics.

Abstract: The article presents the events that took place last year in the world of Russian scientific publications. There is a slow slide towards paid access of some academic journals turned in open access in 2018. The European Union has announced plan "S" for the mass transition of scientific journals to open access. New models of the scientific publication are introducing. Reporting on publications requested by the Ministry of education and science in 2019 does not take into account the size of the readership of the article. Neither the Ministry of education and science, nor the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) does not encourage publication in the public domain. In Russian Science Citation Index began the fight against widespread fraudulent trade in references to the article, but the HAC is not interested in this activity. A proliferation of contradictory the term "self-plagiarism" has spread. This label is widely stigmatized authors and journals for repeated publications.
Keywords: open access, plan "S" administrative assessment of article, serial publications, online reader, h-index, Dissernet, self-plagiarism.

Николай Александрович Котелевцев
37-45
Abstract: The article discusses the socio-psychological characteristics of work with students to increase the percentage of originality of research. Presents the results of an experimental study. As a determinant, causing the desire to improve the scientific and original work of members of educational groups, highlighted - joint activities and the level of development of the team. The dependence between the introduction of technologies for constructing developing social media according to L.I. Umansky and A.S. Chernyshev in the educational process and the development of subjective qualities, both individuals and groups. As a hypothetical position, it is suggested that the degree of inclusion of the group in the social environment and the level of development of the team contribute to the formation of students installation for productive collaborative activities in the framework of the implementation of research projects. The positive socio-psychological climate in the study group and the overall level of motivational attitudes mediate the likelihood of high originality of the scientific text in students. The study involved more than 200 people. As a result, it was found that against the background of the prevalence of the joint-individual form of organization of joint activities, the majority of students show an average level of originality of the text of scientific research. The following changes were made to the livelihoods of educational groups: the introduction of a jointly-interdependent form of organizing joint educational and educational work, the organization of scientific circles with the inclusion of subjects in them, the introduction of a rating assessment of the degree of originality of the texts of research papers of students. As a result, we observed positive dynamic changes both at the qualitative and quantitative levels. The introduction of the jointly interdependent form of organizing joint educational and educational work in the livelihoods of groups contributed to the discovery of the scientific potential of students, against the background of learning (in popular science and game form) the principles of building scientific text, working with methodical literature, organizing research activities (from theoretical to experimental). level). Thus, it can be said that the socio-psychological components highlighted in the article contribute to the development of students' personal qualities, thereby increasing their responsibility for the authenticity and originality of the provision of theoretical and practical information within the framework of the research work being done.

Abstract:

The work presents a digital platform for supercomputer modeling the problems of spraying the particles on substrates. The purpose of this work is to discuss the general architecture, technology stack and implementation features of the platform's user interface. The platform is based on web technologies for access and management of calculations, which allow implementing a user system for conducting a full cycle of a computational experiment, including the configuration of applied applications, their launch on remote computing resources, monitoring the completion of tasks, analysis and interactive visualization of results. User interaction with computing resources is implemented through the graphical interface that does not require the client computer to have any additional software, except actual version of a modern web browser. An important advantage of the platform is the ability to make large-scale computer research in a multi-user mode that is based on the natural principles of building client-server applications.
