Abstract:

We investigated the current models of the publication and dissemination of scientific knowledge. We describe the modern information management system of scientific publications and services that determine their functionality.

We discuss the concept of the digital infrastructure of the electronic scientific journal. Under this infrastructure, we understand the complex that combines management software platform of electronic journal and a number of specialized information systems. The software platform realizes the basic operating log management processes. Information systems provide the operation of additional services, taking into account the specifics of the journal subject area.

We present an approach to the organization of the digital infrastructure of the scientific journal based on an open platform Open Journal Systems (OJS). We provide software services that extend the functionality of this platform and considering specificity of the subject area of scientific journals. We have created software modules for automating of electronic scientific journal workflow. These modules are an extension of OJS.

We present a system of services for the automated processing of collections of scientific documents. These services provide verification of document compliance to the accepted rules of formation of collections and their conversion to the established formats; structural analysis of documents and extraction of metadata, as well as their integration into the scientific information space. The system allows to automatically performing a set of operations that cannot be realized for acceptable time with the traditional manual processing of electronic content. It is designed for the large collections of scientific documents.

Algorithms style validation of texts at the article registration stage in the information system of electronic scientific journal, the selection of reviewers, alert and control the timing of reviewing were automated. Information gathering algorithm with dedicated news lines of scientific journals, further analysis and distribution of news by categories and degrees of importance were developed. The algorithm automatically extract bibliographic data from a homogeneous array of publications (in particular, the issues of the scientific journal) and the formation of metadata blocks for export to international information and analytical system were created. Methods integration of OJS platform and international databases of science citation were developed.

We present methods of processing documents containing mathematical formulas: in the collections of documents that contain mathematical formulas, algorithm for the search formulas is developed; basic ideas, approaches and results already obtained by the mathematical knowledge management based on ontology are presented; a method of constructing recommender systems based on mathematical knowledge ontologies described. The method of primary processing automated of scientific article using TеX-notation developed.

The new direction of researches of scientific communications in the environment of Web 2.0 – altmetrics – is considered. We have analyzed the content of the notion «altmetrics», we conducted a comparison of traditional (bibliometric and scientometric) and alternative indicators. We describe the use of world experience informetric services on scientific journals sites. We discussed options for implementing these approaches to create an electronic scientific journal management platform.

1023-1059
Abstract:

Methods for creating digital mathematical collections that include unstructured sets of documents are presented. These sets contain materials from scientific conferences, as well as articles from the archives of mathematical journals of the "pre-digital" period.

Using the software tools of the metadata factory of the digital mathematical library Lobachevskii DML, a mandatory set of metadata for digital collection documents was formed. To refine and replenish the metadata sets, knowledge extraction methods from Wikidata were used.

To search Wikidata for information about digital collection documents and their authors, a system of SPARQL queries has been developed. A set of Wikidata entities is defined, which determine the features of the search, as well as the subsequent filtering of the results.

Methods for clarifying and supplementing the bibliographic references given in the articles are proposed. When forming the metadata of documents of retrocollections, a search was made in Wikidata for information about the years of life of the authors of articles, as well as URLs of web pages with information about articles and their authors. The results of the formation of several new digital collections of the Lobachevskii-DML digital library are presented.

Keywords: Wikidata, metadata, metadata factory, digital mathematical collection, retrodigitized mathematical collection, Digital Mathematical Libraries, Lobachevskii-DML.

Automatic Replenishment of Metadata of Digital Publications using Semantic Services of the Internet

Polina Olegovna Gafurova
164-186
Abstract:

The article describes approaches to replenishing metadata of documents in electronic collections of a digital mathematical library. An open resource of the semantic network is used as a replenishment. For this purpose, software tools have been developed to search for the necessary data and include it in a metadata set. A separate block of metadata in a scientific article is formed from the affiliation of the authors presented in the document. Typically, the ownership that occurs in a document does not contain sufficient data to generate a set of metadata. A method has been developed for providing author affiliation metadata, providing an open register of scientific organization identifiers (ROR), as well as means for making connections between ROR and other semantic chains. This method was applied to the collections of articles of the journal “Digital Libraries” for 2021–2022.

The article describes a method for connecting the Lobachevsky digital mathematical library-DML to new electronic collections, and describes a method for transforming metadata into a digital format available for downloading.

Keywords: ROR, Wikidata, digital libraries, affiliation metadata, Lobachevskii-DML.

Model and Architecture of Multi-Level Similarity Analysis of Android Applications based on Static Features

Valery Vladimirovich Petrov
877-897
Abstract:

The paper addresses the problem of multi-level similarity analysis of Android applications based on static features in digital application collections. Such collections may contain duplicates, forks, repackaged builds, and other modified variants; malicious payloads are treated as a special case of modification rather than as a synonym of repackaging. The paper formulates a similarity function for Android applications, introduces a static application model as the working object of comparison, and presents a multi-level pipeline that separates candidate screening, in-depth pairwise analysis, result interpretation, and a decision layer. Meaningful similarity signals are sought not only in classes.dex bytecode, but also in AndroidManifest.xml, resources, APK-internal metadata, and library dependencies. A numerical similarity score is computed only when static models are built successfully; otherwise the pipeline records a dedicated technical failure status together with a normalized failure reason. Preliminary evidence is reported on a local pilot set of five core pairs and two boundary cases. These results indicate that explicit handling of shared library code may improve interpretability, but they do not yet constitute a full validation of the proposed architecture on large collections.

Keywords: Android applications, static analysis, program similarity analysis, search for modified variants, repackaged applications, library dependencies, result interpretation, digital collections of applications.

Abstract:

This study examines the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in reshaping the ecosystem of digital scholarly communication, drawing on evidence from electronic libraries and large-scale knowledge aggregators. On the basis of an integrative review of recent international and Russian-language scholarship, AI is shown to be gradually evolving into a system-forming infrastructural mechanism across the life cycle of electronic collections, structuring processes of selection, digitisation, metadata creation, storage, and service-oriented resource discovery and access. In parallel, intelligent recommender systems are substantiated as an epistemic mediator influencing the configuration of scholarly reading, the distribution of research attention, and the visibility of peripheral forms of knowledge within the spatial–linguistic architecture of science. It is demonstrated that algorithmic personalisation cannot be reduced to improved search convenience; rather, it participates in constructing relevance norms, linguistic and regional hierarchies, and new regimes for interpreting collections. The effects identified make it possible to conceptualise algorithmic mediation at the intersection of the micro level of research identity and the macro level of the global distribution of scholarly knowledge, while also underscoring the need for reflexive governance of recommender loops in order to preserve epistemic diversity and enhance the transparency of libraries’ digital infrastructures.

Keywords: artificial intelligence, electronic libraries, recommender systems, algorithmic mediation, digital scholarly communication, life cycle of electronic collections, metadata, epistemic mediator, spatial–linguistic architecture of science, peripheral knowledge, research identity, algorithmic personalisation, bibliometric analysis, cognitive management, cultural heritage.

Abstract:

The results on the creation of methods for managing mathematical knowledge in the context of digital mathematical libraries are presented. The software tools developed on the basis of these methods are part of the OntoMath digital ecosystem, within which they interact. A brief description of the architecture of the OntoMath ecosystem is given, the levels of subject ontologies and external ontologies are highlighted, as well as the level of software tools and services. Semantic services are separated into a separate category. This term denotes software tools, in the functionality of which queries to subject ontologies are used to ensure the management of knowledge objects. General descriptions of developed subject ontologies are given: educational mathematical ontology OntoMathEdu and ontology of professional mathematics OntoMathPRO. The development of educational ontology is reflected in the direction of including educational prerequisite links between classes. Among the software tools of the digital ecosystem, search services for mathematical electronic collections, a service for semantic annotation of mathematical documents, tools for semantic marking of educational mathematical documents, as well as a system for automatically generating testing tests in mathematical educational disciplines are highlighted. As part of the OntoMath digital ecosystem, special-purpose recommender systems are being developed. The current version of the ecosystem includes a recommender system for generating a list of related articles based on the OntoMathPRO ontology, a recommender system for appointing experts to support the scientific review process, and recommender systems for selecting subject classifiers UDC and Mathematics Subject Classification codes for mathematical documents. The results are also presented in the direction of creating a digital library metadata factory, which includes services and tools for extracting, refining, replenishing and normalizing the metadata of electronic mathematical collections. Note that the OntoMath ecosystem is being developed as the technological basis for the Lobachevskii Digital Mathematical Library.

433-450
Abstract: The task of forming a digital space of scientific knowledge (DSSK) is analyzed in the paper. The difference of this concept from the general concept of the information space is considered. DSSK is presented as a set containing objects verified by the world scientific community. The form of a structured representation of the digital knowledge space is a semantic network, the basic organization principle of which is based on the classification system of objects and the subsequent construction of their hierarchy, in particular, according to the principle of inheritance. The classification of the objects that make up the content of the DSSK is introduced. A model of the central data collection system is proposed as a collection of disjoint sets containing digital images of real objects and their characteristics, which ensure the selection and visualization of objects in accordance with multi-aspect user requests. The concept of a user collection is defined, and a hierarchical classification of types of user collections is proposed. The use of the concepts of set theory in the construction of DSSK allows you to break down information into levels of detail and formalize the algorithms for processing user queries, which is illustrated by specific examples.

The Use of Thematic Analysis Methods in Scientometric Systems

Alexander Sergeevich Kozitsyn, Sergey Alexandrovich Afonin, Dmitry Alekseevich Shachnev

Abstract:

Modern scientometric systems and citation systems use various mechanisms of thematic search and thematic filtering of information. In most cases, a full-text approach is used for thematic analysis of articles and journals, which has a number of limitations. The use of algorithms based on graph analysis, both independently and in conjunction with full-text algorithms, eliminates these limitations and improves the completeness and accuracy of subject search. The algorithm developed by the authors and presented in this work uses the co-authorship graph to analyze the thematic proximity of journals. The algorithm is insensitive to the language of the journal and selects similar journals in different languages, which is difficult to implement for algorithms based on the analysis of full-text information. The algorithm was tested in the scientometric system IAS ISTINA. In the interface developed for these purposes, the user can select one journal that is close to him on the subject, and the system will automatically generate a selection of journals that may be of interest to the user both in terms of studying the materials available in them and in terms of publishing his own articles. In the future, the developed algorithm can be adapted to search for similar conferences, collections of publications and scientific projects. The presence of such a tool will increase the publication activity of young employees, increase the citation rate of articles and the citation rate between journals. The results of the algorithm for determining thematic proximity between journals, collections, conferences and scientific projects can also be used to build rules in models of differentiating access to data based on domain ontologies.

Keywords: thematic classification, bibliographic data, co-authorship graph, information systems.

Abstract: The article discusses the process of creating and developing a library and museum as part of the educational and scientific material base of the Cabinet of Geography at the Department of Geography and Ethnography of Imperial Kazan University. From the annual reports on the activities of the Department it can be seen that the acquisition of the Library with new editions, and the Ethnographic Museum with collections, was systematic. These processes were interconnected and aimed at creating a high-quality integrated material base for the development of the educational and scientific process. The article emphasizes that the leading role in the processes of forming the library and museum belonged to the head of the Department of Geography and Ethnography, Petr Ivanovich Krotov and Bruno Friedrichovich Adler. Peter Krotov created the Cabinet of Geography. Bruno Adler improved and developed not only the Cabinet of Geography itself, but also ethnographic science in the Volga Region and Russia as a whole. For example, having academic ties with Russian and foreign scientists, Bruno Adler received many publications and subjects for the Cabinet of Geography as a gift. This allowed for the year to increase several times, both the library and the museum under the Cabinet of Geography. The scientifically organized cabinet, which has comprehensive collections and professional literature, has become a quality source base for the development of ethnographic science at Kazan University.

The system for the automatic generation, processing, and management of document metadata in digital collections

Almaz Rustamovich Khamedzhanov
937-959
Abstract:

The publishing cycle is currently undergoing significant technological changes: automated publication management systems are being implemented, neural network technologies are being used for content processing, and tools for the intelligent analysis of scientific data are being actively developed. One of the key trends is the automation of the publishing cycle, aimed at accelerating manuscript processing, improving the quality of metadata, and ensuring the interoperability of information resources. In this context, metadata serves as a connecting element for machine processing and navigation within the scientific knowledge space, ensuring the structuring, interpretation, and integration of information into digital library systems. However, metadata for scientific publications often contain errors, inaccuracies, or are incomplete, and their manual creation and refinement are time-consuming and do not ensure high accuracy. The aim of this work is to design and develop a system for the automatic generation, processing, and management of metadata for scientific documents based on data obtained from scientific publication search services and open knowledge bases. The system can be used to automate the process of extracting, refining, and supplementing the metadata of scientific publications for the purpose of subsequently creating electronic collections of scientific documents.

Archival Handwritten Letter Attribution using Siamese Neural Networks

Nataliia Mikhailovna Pronina
1454-1480
Abstract:

This paper presents a method for the automated attribution of archival handwritten letters based on a Siamese neural network, addressing a key challenge in digital humanities – the authentication of historical documents. The research is motivated by the mass digitization of 17th to 19th-century archives, where attribution is often hindered by incomplete or inaccurate metadata about the authors.

The method is designed for real-world document collections and accounts for challenges typical of archival materials: poor-quality scans, significant handwriting variation, and substantial class imbalance (from 1 to over 50 samples per author). The use of a Siamese network architecture enables the extraction of discriminative vector representations (embeddings). Based on these embeddings, the method not only classifies documents by known authors but also effectively identifies manuscripts that do not match any known author in the archive. This significantly narrows down the pool of candidates for subsequent expert verification.

The study introduces a data preprocessing algorithm and provides a comparative analysis of two approaches to text analysis: at the image fragment level (300×300 px) and at the individual text line level. The developed tool offers archivists and philologists an effective solution for the preliminary sorting and attribution of handwritten documents large collections.

It is insensitive to the language of the journal and can find similar journals in different languages. This task is difficult for algorithms based on the analysis of full-text information. Approbation of the algorithm was carried out in the scientometric system IAS ISTINA. Using a special interface, a user can select one interesting journal. Then the system will automatically generate a selection of journals that may be of interest to the user. In the future, the developed algorithm can be adapted to search for similar conferences, collections of publications and research projects. The use of such tools will increase the publication activity of young employees, increase the citation of articles and quoting between journals.
