Abstract:

Digital resources of Karelian Research Centre of RAS (KarRC RAS) related to digital libraries, repositories and search systems are described in this paper. These resources devoted to the gathering, organization and dissemination of scientific and technical information (scientific papers, archival documents) in order to use this information in theoretical and applied researches. The stages of development of these resources in connection with the history of the Karelian Research Centre of RAS subdivisions (Scientific library, Scientific archives) are presented. Abstract:

In this paper, we discuss monitoring of the state of murals, retrieval of data pertaining to this state and management and storing of the said data. We discuss the possibility of integration of traditional methods of mural mapping and modern methods of data visualization, including Project Tango for fixation of complex textures of inner 3D volumes of architectural monuments. We further discuss the express-scanning of automated cartogramming for further comparison of states and methods of assessing the damage done to the mural.

Abstract: In this paper we decibel the general algorithm and classify the common steps of creating authentic historical and cultural reconstructions. Using «Bolgar XIV» as an example, we reviewed the main stages of reconstruction, including three-dimensional modeling of architecture, household items and citizens of ancient city. As a result, we made some valuable conclusions about the general track of creating virtual reconstructions and described technologies that can be used for it, such as procedural generation of terrain.

Abstract: A brief history of the formation of the rare books in the Scientific Library of the Perm State University. Review of the scientific and practical activities to identify, secure and update the literary monuments. Non-departmental co-operation, social and educational activities excursion. The gradual establishment of the library and museum exhibition of the literary monuments. The search for new ways to update the collection of rare books.

Abstract: In this paper we tackle the problems of automated registration of research data of cultural heritage of Sviyazhsk island, and associated live monitoring of historical monuments. We describe the general idea if automated system that gathers the data from the monitored monuments and maintains the resulting knowledge base. We cover the development of the said system in details.

Abstract: Discusses activities of the Republican library of the Tatar ASSR them. V.I. Lenin during the Great Patriotic war. The highlighted characteristic of this period of trend, consisting in the application of the composition of the reading groups, the development of mobile library points, moving the centre of gravity in service to the readers on military subjects, a decrease in the dynamics of recruitment literature, incompleteness of the library staff and the deterioration of conditions of work.

This article is an attempt to describe some events from the history of the development of Internet navigation tools from the point of view of a witness (and partly a participant).

Many lines have been written about the wealth of the holdings of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan. When speaking of the rare books stored in the Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books of our Library, it is worth mentioning the lifetime editions of some Russian classics. Many of these editions are bibliographic rarities. The history of the publication of A.S. Pushkin’s "Eugene Onegin" and "Poems", F.I. Tiutchev’s "Poems", and A.A. Akhmatova’s "The evening", is especially interesting. It would be impossible to have all the lifetime editions of famous poets and writers within one library’s holdings. Nevertheless, the staff of the Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books continue the search for such rarities among our Library’s holdings.

Abstract: Peer review in the scientific and technical field has more than three hundred years of history and during this time its external forms has changed significantly. Computer technology has influenced the processes of the peer review organizing particularly strongly. The article describes the procedure for the peer review in tenders for funding under the federal target program "Research and development in priority areas of development of the scientific and technological complex of Russia for 2014–2020." The worked out specializing information systems and services using new technological tools for data retrieval and processing enable the reviewer evaluate the peer review’s object fully and thoroughly. Information support covers all aspects of the peer review organizing and the expert’s activities. The procedure for peer review organizing, established at the Directorate of Scientific Technical Programs, and its informational and analytical support ensure the functioning of an independent scientific and technical examination system and allow to organize peer review in large quantities, in a short time and with minimal costs.

Abstract: In this paper we analyze the problem of correlation and interaction of two frequently used terms. We compare and describe their meanings. We thoroughly study their history and usage, and generalize cases in which one of those terms will be appropriate to use.

Abstract: Universal access to the knowledge contained in the comprehensive printed record of mankind is a goal that can be achieved within a decade. With appropriate public policies and the development and deployment of standards, not addressed in this paper as they are the subject of a separate processes, most of this knowledge could be provided free at the point of use while increasing the return to copyright holders over the life of copyright protected publications. With proper attention to the representation of contextual knowledge in print images and the interchange of raw forms of this data, national governments can ensure the emergence of the first integrated and comprehensive resource representing the print literature of the world. Human creativity and capabilities will be unleashed without regard to barriers previously imposed by limited access to information, barriers that effectively kept everyone, no matter how privileged, from having full access to universal print heritage and supported dramatic differences between a very few who had significant access and the overwhelming majority that had virtually none.
