Abstract

Satellites in a low-Earth (under 450 km) near-polar orbits provide the required high resolution gravity and magnetic-field measurements. The application of Satellite-to-Satellite Tracking aboard CHAMP and GRACE missions, satellite gradientometry (GOCE mission) makes possible the reliable highly accurate assessments Earth’s gravitational potential. Combining GOCE-TIM4 model with EIGEN-6C and EGM 2008 for degree expansion from 251 to n=1420 and n=2190 form the basis of elaboration new local and regional gravity models. Swarm satellite early magnetic field measurements explicit advantage is taken by including magnetic intensity gradient from the lower satellite pair. Progressively increasing data of global observations opens the way for Earth System Study by bringing disparate sources together.

GPS-tracking on the low orbiting satellites, satellite-to-satellite tracking, satellite gravity gradientometry, sea surface topography, gravity field models, magnetic field gradient satellite data, monitoring solar-terrestrial relations.
