Recommender System in the Process of Scientific Peer Review in Mathematical Journal

Alexander Mikhailovich Elizarov, Evgeny Konstantinovich Lipachev, Shamil Makhmutovich Khaydarov
708-732
Abstract: An approach is proposed for organizing expert evaluation of a scientific document submitted to a mathematical journal. Domain restriction is associated with the use of the Mathematical Sciences Classification System – MSC. A recommendation system is presented that allows you to create a list of possible experts for conducting scientific peer-reviewing on a mathematical article. The recommender system uses the MSC codes presented by the author of the article on the MSC2020 classifiers. If the codes MSC2000 or MSC2010 are indicated in the article, they are automatically converted to codes MSC2020. For each expert, the system supports a personal profile that contains a set of codes MSC2020, supplemented by numerical characteristics – weights calculated for each code in accordance with the system of accounting for competencies, preferences or refusals to participate in the review procedure. This set is automatically edited if the expert is included in the list of possible reviewers – the weights of several codes increase or decrease, as well as new codes are added. The recommendation system is implemented as an integrated tool (plug-in) of the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. The developed method has been tested in the information system of the Lobachevskii Journal of Mathematics (https://ljm.kpfu.ru).

433-450
Abstract: The task of forming a digital space of scientific knowledge (DSSK) is analyzed in the paper. The difference of this concept from the general concept of the information space is considered. DSSK is presented as a set containing objects verified by the world scientific community. The form of a structured representation of the digital knowledge space is a semantic network, the basic organization principle of which is based on the classification system of objects and the subsequent construction of their hierarchy, in particular, according to the principle of inheritance. The classification of the objects that make up the content of the DSSK is introduced. A model of the central data collection system is proposed as a collection of disjoint sets containing digital images of real objects and their characteristics, which ensure the selection and visualization of objects in accordance with multi-aspect user requests. The concept of a user collection is defined, and a hierarchical classification of types of user collections is proposed. The use of the concepts of set theory in the construction of DSSK allows you to break down information into levels of detail and formalize the algorithms for processing user queries, which is illustrated by specific examples.

Abstract: The paper is presents approaches to solving the problem of creating realistic interactive 3D web-collections of museum exhibits. The presentation of 3D-models of objects based on oriented polygonal structures is considered. The method of creating a virtual collection of 3D-models using interactive animation technology is described. It is also shown how a full-fledged 3D-model is constructed on the basis of individual exposure frames using photogrammetry methods. The paper assesses the computational complexity of constructing realistic 3D-models. For the creation of 3D-models in order to provide them to a wide range of users via the Internet, the so-called interactive animation technology is used. The paper presents the differences between the representations of full-fledged 3D-models and 3D-models presented in the form of interactive multiplication. The technology of creating 3D-models of objects from the funds of the State Biological Museum named K.A Timiryazev and the formation on their basis of the digital library “Scientific Heritage of Russia” of a virtual exhibition dedicated to the scientific activities of M.M. Gerasimov and his anthropological reconstructions, and vividly demonstrating the possibility of integrating information resources by means of an electronic library. The format of virtual exhibitions allows you to combine the resources of partners to provide a wide range of users with collections stored in museum, archival and library collections.

We investigated the current models of the publication and dissemination of scientific knowledge. We describe the modern information management system of scientific publications and services that determine their functionality.

We discuss the concept of the digital infrastructure of the electronic scientific journal. Under this infrastructure, we understand the complex that combines management software platform of electronic journal and a number of specialized information systems. The software platform realizes the basic operating log management processes. Information systems provide the operation of additional services, taking into account the specifics of the journal subject area.

We present an approach to the organization of the digital infrastructure of the scientific journal based on an open platform Open Journal Systems (OJS). We provide software services that extend the functionality of this platform and considering specificity of the subject area of scientific journals. We have created software modules for automating of electronic scientific journal workflow. These modules are an extension of OJS.

We present a system of services for the automated processing of collections of scientific documents. These services provide verification of document compliance to the accepted rules of formation of collections and their conversion to the established formats; structural analysis of documents and extraction of metadata, as well as their integration into the scientific information space. The system allows to automatically performing a set of operations that cannot be realized for acceptable time with the traditional manual processing of electronic content. It is designed for the large collections of scientific documents.

Algorithms style validation of texts at the article registration stage in the information system of electronic scientific journal, the selection of reviewers, alert and control the timing of reviewing were automated. Information gathering algorithm with dedicated news lines of scientific journals, further analysis and distribution of news by categories and degrees of importance were developed. The algorithm automatically extract bibliographic data from a homogeneous array of publications (in particular, the issues of the scientific journal) and the formation of metadata blocks for export to international information and analytical system were created. Methods integration of OJS platform and international databases of science citation were developed.

We present methods of processing documents containing mathematical formulas: in the collections of documents that contain mathematical formulas, algorithm for the search formulas is developed; basic ideas, approaches and results already obtained by the mathematical knowledge management based on ontology are presented; a method of constructing recommender systems based on mathematical knowledge ontologies described. The method of primary processing automated of scientific article using TеX-notation developed.

Abstract:

The results on the creation of methods for managing mathematical knowledge in the context of digital mathematical libraries are presented. The software tools developed on the basis of these methods are part of the OntoMath digital ecosystem, within which they interact. A brief description of the architecture of the OntoMath ecosystem is given, the levels of subject ontologies and external ontologies are highlighted, as well as the level of software tools and services. Semantic services are separated into a separate category. This term denotes software tools, in the functionality of which queries to subject ontologies are used to ensure the management of knowledge objects. General descriptions of developed subject ontologies are given: educational mathematical ontology OntoMathEdu and ontology of professional mathematics OntoMathPRO. The development of educational ontology is reflected in the direction of including educational prerequisite links between classes. Among the software tools of the digital ecosystem, search services for mathematical electronic collections, a service for semantic annotation of mathematical documents, tools for semantic marking of educational mathematical documents, as well as a system for automatically generating testing tests in mathematical educational disciplines are highlighted. As part of the OntoMath digital ecosystem, special-purpose recommender systems are being developed. The current version of the ecosystem includes a recommender system for generating a list of related articles based on the OntoMathPRO ontology, a recommender system for appointing experts to support the scientific review process, and recommender systems for selecting subject classifiers UDC and Mathematics Subject Classification codes for mathematical documents. The results are also presented in the direction of creating a digital library metadata factory, which includes services and tools for extracting, refining, replenishing and normalizing the metadata of electronic mathematical collections. Note that the OntoMath ecosystem is being developed as the technological basis for the Lobachevskii Digital Mathematical Library.

Separating Input/Output Automata With Nondeterministic Behavior

634-655
Abstract: When deriving tests for checking functional and nonfunctional requirements for components of control systems, the notion of separablity becomes very important that is used for distinguishing the fault-free component from a faulty one. In order to do this, proper separating sequences are utilized. Such sequences are well studied for complete and deterministic Finite State Machines but components of control systems can be only partially described and their behavior can be nondeterministic. In this paper, we consider the formal model of Input/Output automata, introduce the notion of a separating sequence for two such automata and propose an approach for deriving such a separating sequence.
Keywords: Input/Output automaton, test derivation, separating sequence.

Development of the Information System for Registering the Result of Scientific Institution’ Employees Intellectual Activity

Svetlana Aleksandrovna Vlasova, Nikolay Evgenevich Kalenov
770-793
Abstract:

The article describes a Web-system developed by the authors that implements services related to the formation and provision of multifaceted information about the results of scientific activities (publications, copyright certificates and reports at scientific events) of employees of an organization or a group of organizations. The system is focused both on the end user interested in obtaining specific data, and on the administrative staff, who generates reporting materials for the parent organization. The information base of the system contains metadata on the following classes of objects: persons (authors), organizations and their subdivisions; publications at analytical, monographic and summary levels; copyright certificates; scientific events (conferences, symposia, seminars); reports. The system includes two modules – an administrative one (intended for entering and editing data) and a user one, which is a special search engine that searches for information, visualizes it, provides navigation among related resources and exports data. A distinctive feature of the system is the introduced concept of “equivalent” objects. Objects are considered equivalent if they are represented in the system by different metadata, but referring to the same physical entity. Such objects are “persons” corresponding to one author with different spellings of the surname in the bibliographic descriptions of publications; organizations with different variants of names; articles published unchanged in various languages. In accordance with modern requirements for reporting on publications, the system reflects the sources of research funding, as well as the affiliations indicated in the articles for each author.

An Ontology-Based Approach for Distributed Multi-Agent Modeling of the Radio-Technical Systems

Andrey Olegovich Schiriy
1109-1125
Abstract:

he ontology-based approach to multi-agent modeling involves the implementation of a modeling system through the creation of ontologies. An example of a holistic implementation of an ontology-based approach to agent-based modeling is the IEEE 1516 Standard for Modeling and Simulation High Level Architecture. The work is devoted to a multi-agent modeling system designed for modeling complex radio engineering systems (especially radar systems), its relevance is due to the need to replace part of the field tests of radio engineering systems with simulation experiments. The motivation for switching to the IEEE 1516 standard for a "heavy" multi-agent modeling system, among other things, is to ensure scalability, openness and multiple reuse of the developed agent models, which is completely logical to do based on the existing well-developed and proven standard that establishes rules for the interaction of models and the development of software interfaces. The general principles of construction and architecture of the modeling system are given. The basic requirements for the main modeling agents, their role and place in the complex modeling system are shown, a special place among which is occupied by the simulator of the background-target environment. The possibility of combining two simulation schemes is also discussed: discrete-event and step-by-step. The fact is that the step-by-step scheme has advantages such as simplicity and clarity, it is convenient to model processing algorithms, components of radio engineering systems. However, it is impossible to implement true autonomy and asynchrony of agents in it. Combining two modeling schemes allows you to combine their advantages.

Interaction with the User in the SAPFOR System

Nikita Andreevich Kataev
157-183
Abstract:

Automation of parallel programming is important at any stage of parallel program development. These stages include profiling of the original program, program transformation, which allows us to achieve higher performance after program parallelization, and, finally, construction and optimization of the parallel program. It is also important to choose a suitable parallel programming model to express parallelism available in a program. On the one hand, the parallel programming model should be capable to map the parallel program to a variety of existing hardware resources. On the other hand, it should simplify the development of the assistant tools and it should allow the user to explore the parallel program the assistant tools generate in a semi-automatic way. The SAPFOR (System FOR Automated Parallelization) system combines various approaches to automation of parallel programming. Moreover, it allows the user to guide the parallelization if necessary. SAPFOR produces parallel programs according to the high-level DVMH parallel programming model which simplify the development of efficient parallel programs for heterogeneous computing clusters. This paper focuses on the approach to semi-automatic parallel programming, which SAPFOR implements. We discuss the architecture of the system and present the interactive subsystem which is useful to guide the SAPFOR through program parallelization. We used the interactive subsystem to parallelize programs from the NAS Parallel Benchmarks in a semi-automatic way. Finally, we compare the performance of manually written parallel programs with programs the SAPFOR system builds.

Reconstruction of Multi-Dimensional Form of Linearized Accesses to Arrays in SAPFOR

770-787
Abstract: The system for automated parallelization SAPFOR (System FOR Automated Parallelization) includes tools for program analysis and transformation. The main goal of the system is to reduce the complexity of program parallelization. SAPFOR system is focused on the investigation of multilingual applications in Fortran and C programming languages. The low-level LLVM IR representation is used in SAPFOR for program analysis. This representation allows us to perform various IR-level optimizations to improve the quality of program analysis. At the same time, it loses some features of the program, which are available in its higher level representation. One of these features is the multi-dimensional structure of the arrays. Data dependence analysis is one of the main problems which should be solved to automate program parallelization. Moreover, such an analysis belongs to the class of NP-hard problems. Knowledge of the multidimensional structure of arrays allows in many cases to take into account the structure of index expressions in calls to arrays and reduce the complexity of the analysis. In addition, the use of multi-dimensional arrays allows us to use multi-dimensional processor matrix and to parallelize a whole loop nests, rather than a single loop in the nest. So, parallelism of a program is going to be increased. These opportunities are natively supported in the DVM system. This paper discusses the approach used in the SAPFOR system to recover the form of multi-dimensional arrays by their linearized representation in LLVM IR. The proposed approach has been successfully evaluated on various applications including performance tests from the NAS Parallel Benchmarks suite.

547-555
Abstract: The issue of STEM education in a modern school and methodological approaches to its implementation on the subjects of the natural science cycle as part of project activities are considered. An example of the stages of work on a project, a breakdown into subject areas, is given. Since STEM education involves not only gaining knowledge in individual subjects, but also putting them into practice, the key point in working on a project is practical application. Within the framework of the subject area of mathematics and computer science, this involves making calculations and presenting the final results using modern technical means. Thus, the subject of mathematics moves from the framework of academic knowledge to the framework of practical skills. In particular, the article provides an example of the formation of a student’s financial literacy as part of a project. STEM-training allows you to combine scientific methods, mathematical modeling, technological applications and engineering design. Thus, innovative critical thinking is formed, the opportunity and need for integrated training on topics within the framework of which active communication of students occurs and a new educational space is formed.

Abstract:

The article introduces the analysis of the concepts "information retrieval activity" and "information retrieval competencies", as well as defines the place of information retrieval activity in the educational activity of students of universities.

We conducted a questionnaire design of the first and second year students for studying their knowledge of the diversity of information retrieval systems and the ability to adequately choose information retrieval systems for thematic, targeted and factual information retrieval. The students were offered a list of 14 answers, including both traditional and electronic information systems.

The results of analysis show, that the students are familiar with a limited range of information retrieval systems, and most often use the Internet search engine for searching information. Most students ignore traditional bibliographic systems, as well as information systems, which require special knowledge and skills of using search strategies for use.

Obviously, it is necessary to carry out purposeful activity on formation of information retrieval competencies of pupils and students based on the special training courses.
