Towards Virtual Data Centres for Remote Sensing
Abstract:
Remote Sensing from satellites allow a global perspective on observations of the Earth to be developed. This paper gives an overview of some of the international initiatives that have been created to improve the exploitation of remotely sensed data for environmental studies. The focus is on the activities and scientific challenges facing GEO/GEOSS on Earth Observation. Other relevant international initiatives are also presented, such as CEOS, GMES and APARSEN. The benefits of creating a Virtual Centre of Remote Sensing Data in are also discussed.

INSPIRE Infrastructure Build-up in Estonia
Abstract:
This paper concentrates on the methodics of how to comply to INSPIRE requirements in conditions where the project is under time and budgetary pressure. The goal was to achieve discovery and view services for the spatial data and according metadata that is described in INSPIRE directive Appendix 1 and 2 (INSPIRE). Also to create Estonian GeoPortal with its subpages and administrative tools that can be used to maintain and add spatial data and metadata.

An approach to development of the Binary Star DataBase (BDB)
Abstract:
В статье представлен подход к разработке базы данных двойных звезд (Binary star DataBase, BDB). Она включает в себя информацию о физических и астрометрических параметрах двойных и кратных звезд различных типов, полученную из астрономических каталогов и обзоров. Рассматриваются требования к создаваемой базе, связанные с особенностями астрономических данных и объединением в одной базе данных информации из неоднородных информационных ресурсов. Описаны процессы формирования концептуальной схемы предметной области двойных звезд и преобразования данных каталогов к терминам концептуальной схемы. Предложены подходы решения научных задач в терминах концептуальной схемы предметной области.
