Situational Modeling Technology in Virtual Environment Systems

Mikhail Vasilievich Mikhailyuk, Dmitry Alekseevich Kononov, Dmitry Mikhailovich Loginov
889-901
Abstract:

The technology of modelling various situations in virtual environment systems, which are computer three-dimensional models of a real or artificial environment, is discussed. The user can view these scenes directly on the computer screen, wall screen, in a stereo glasses, virtual reality glasses, etc. He can also move inside a virtual scene and interact with its objects. In turn, the environment can also change. This allows modelling of various situations (situation modelling) in the virtual environment system. With such modelling, some static or dynamic situation is set in the virtual environment system in which the operator must perform the tasks assigned to him.

A mechanism for setting situations by changing a virtual three-dimensional scene using configuration files and virtual control panels is proposed. A special language has been developed for writing configuration files, and a special editor has been developed for creating virtual control panels. The approbation of the proposed methods is presented on the examples of two virtual scenes: a training ground for mobile robots and a jet backpack for the rescue of an astronaut in outer space.

Keywords: virtual environment system, situational modeling, three-dimensional scene, configuration file, virtual control panels.

Stability Studies of a Coupled Model to Perturbation of Initial Data

615-633
Abstract: The stability problem is considered in terms of the classical Lyapunov definition. For this, a set of initial conditions is set, consisting of their preliminary calculations, and the spread of the trajectories obtained as a result of numerical simulation is analyzed. This procedure is implemented as a series of ensemble experiments with a joint MPI-ESM model of the Institute of Meteorology M. Planck (Germany). For numerical modeling, a series of different initial values of the characteristic fields was specified and the model was integrated, starting from each of these fields for different time periods. Extreme ocean level characteristics over a period of 30 years were studied. The statistical distribution was built, the parameters of this distribution were estimated, and the statistical forecast for 5 years in advance was studied. It is shown that the statistical forecast of the level corresponds to the calculated forecast obtained by the model. The localization of extreme level values was studied and an analysis of these results was carried out. Numerical calculations were performed on the Lomonosov-2 supercomputer of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Keywords: non-linear circulation models, Ensemble numerical experiments, analysis of stability of the model trajectories.

Abstract:

Digital resources of Karelian Research Centre of RAS (KarRC RAS) related to digital libraries, repositories and search systems are described in this paper. These resources devoted to the gathering, organization and dissemination of scientific and technical information (scientific papers, archival documents) in order to use this information in theoretical and applied researches. The stages of development of these resources in connection with the history of the Karelian Research Centre of RAS subdivisions (Scientific library, Scientific archives) are presented. Future directions for the development of these resources outlined. This work is being licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0.

Abstract: The rapid development of complex virtual worlds (most notably, in 3D computer and video games) introduces new challenges for the creation of virtual agents, controlled by artificial intelligence (AI) systems. Two important subproblems in this topic area which need to be addressed are (a) believability and (b) effectiveness of agents' behavior, i.e. human-likeness of the characters and high ability to achieving their own goals. In this paper, we study current approaches to believability and effectiveness of AI behavior in virtual worlds. We examine the concepts of believability and effectiveness and analyze several successful attempts to address these challenges. In conclusion, we suggest that believable and effective behavior can be achieved through learning behavioral patterns from observation with subsequent automatic selection of winning acting strategies.

Sorting problem on graths in programming contests

Mihail Ivanovich Kinder, Andrei Kazantsev
384-391
Abstract: The problem of sorting data is analyzed, the order relation between which is described as the adjacency relation of vertices on an arbitrary graph. Subtasks and issues related to the ‘neighborhood‘ of the problem are highlighted; their solution is the level of ‘immersion‘ in the solution of the general problem. Algorithms for solving individual subtasks for graphs of a special kind are discussed, as well as various approaches to solving the sorting problem in the general case. A sorting task of this type was proposed at the ISI-Junior School Programming Cup in July 2019 (Innopolis).
Keywords: mathematical olympiads, programming contests, informatics olympiads, multilevel tasks in mathematics, multilevel tasks in informatics contests, sorting problem on graphs.

Web application development based on technologies, resources and services of the Geoportal of the Institute of Computational Modelling SB RAS

О.Э. Якубайлик, А.А. Кадочников, А.В. Токарев
Abstract: The geoportal is a mapping web site; it can be described as specialized software and technologies for spatial data processing. Geoportal's main task is to provide the user with the tools and services of storing and cataloguing, publications and download the spatial (geographic) data, search and filter by metadata, interactive web visualization, direct access to geodata based web mapping services. Geoportal developed in ICM SB RAS with appropriate set of its components and services, has become a GIS platform for creating a number of applied GIS web applications. The article deals with the experience of design and development of these systems.
Keywords: spatial data processing, geodata, web mapping services, geoportal, GIS web applications.
