On Presentation of the Results of a Scientific Institute in the Form of a Knowledge Graph in a Semantic Library

Olga Muratovna Ataeva, Vladimir Alekseevich Serebryakov , Natalia Pavlovna Tuchkova
798-818
Abstract:

The problem of presenting scientific results of academic institute in a digital environment is considered. A new look at the knowledge space of a scientific institute constitutes a natural stage in the development of WEB technologies. The data structure inherent in previous studies allows you to organize search and navigation through them using a knowledge graph, like a version of the semantic library LibMeta. The knowledge graph gives a more complete and high-quality idea of the knowledge space, often removing the cognitive load in the perception of complex structures and data connections.

Keywords: digital library LibMeta, applied ontology, knowledge graph, data sources, ontology development, scientific results in the digital environment, scientific institute.

Stem-Education in Modern School Within the Framework Of Design Activity in Natural Scientific Disciplines

Tamara Yur’Evna Gavrilova, Olga Grigor’Evna Ignatova
547-555
Abstract: The issue of STEM education in a modern school and methodological approaches to its implementation on the subjects of the natural science cycle as part of project activities are considered. An example of the stages of work on a project, a breakdown into subject areas, is given. Since STEM education involves not only gaining knowledge in individual subjects, but also putting them into practice, the key point in working on a project is practical application. Within the framework of the subject area of mathematics and computer science, this involves making calculations and presenting the final results using modern technical means. Thus, the subject of mathematics moves from the framework of academic knowledge to the framework of practical skills. In particular, the article provides an example of the formation of a student’s financial literacy as part of a project. STEM-training allows you to combine scientific methods, mathematical modeling, technological applications and engineering design. Thus, innovative critical thinking is formed, the opportunity and need for integrated training on topics within the framework of which active communication of students occurs and a new educational space is formed.

Software Module for Forming Digital Mathematical Space Based on Knowledge Graphs

Vadim Igorevich Gurianov, Alexander Mikhailovich Elizarov
622-639
Abstract:

The modern information space contains a lot of data, but they are often poorly structured, difficult to find and not always correct. This creates additional difficulties during researches, so digital spaces of scientific knowledge are currently being formed, in particular, based on knowledge graphs.

To ensure the quality of information, such graphs are often filled with data manually, which is time-consuming. Therefore, the creation of a tool that provides the ability to automate process of filling a graph with data, as well as ensures data quality, will simplify and speed up the process of forming digital spaces of scientific knowledge.

Methods for automating the filling of the graph with data are proposed, including parallel control of their integrity. Based on the proposed methods, a software module has been developed, the mechanisms of its functioning and its architecture are described.

Keywords: digital space of scientific knowledge, formation of digital spaces of scientific knowledge, knowledge graphs, automation of knowledge graph construction.

Unified Representation of the Common Digital Space of Scientific Knowledge Ontology

Nikolay Evgenievich Kalenov, Alexander Nikolaevch Sotnikov
80-103
Abstract:

The Common Digital Space of Scientific Knowledge (CDSSK) is a digital information environment aggregating heterogeneous information related to various aspects of scientific knowledge. One of the important functions of the CDSSK is to provide information for solving artificial intelligence problems, which makes it necessary to support data in a structure that complies with the rules of the semantic WEB. The features of the CDSSK are, on the one hand, the polythematics and heterogeneity of content elements, on the other hand, the high dynamics of the emergence of new types of objects and connections between them, which is due to the specifics of the development of science. At the same time, it should be possible to navigate through heterogeneous space resources using semantic links between them. The possibilities of the CDSSK are largely determined by the structure of the ontology of space, the model of which is proposed in this paper. Within the framework of the model, the hierarchical structuring of the CDSSK ontology is carried out; such elements as "subspace", "class of objects", "object", "attributes of an object", three types of pairwise relations of objects or attributes (universal, quasi-universal and specific) are distinguished and defined. The structure of each elements type is determined by a "reference book" of a unified type; specific values of attributes and relationships are contained in dictionaries of a unified structure. A class of "Formats" objects describing the rules for the formation of attributes and values of relationships is allocated. The formalization of CDSSK reference books and dictionaries representations is proposed. The proposed model allows you to simply add new types of objects, of their pairwise relationships and attributes to the space, as needed.

Abstract:

The study examines the principle of creating virtual exhibitions as a means of integration into the Common Digital Space of Scientific Knowledge (CDSSK), information systems in the field of science and culture, with the aim of promoting science, ensuring access to information in various scientific fields, and drawing attention to current issues and achievements in the scientific sphere. The main methods of creating virtual exhibitions are formulated, including content selection and segmentation into main sections. In addition, a classification of virtual exhibitions into autonomous, remote, and combined is proposed. Special attention is paid to the methodology of creating virtual exhibition at the Moscow Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Using the example of an interdepartmental combined virtual exhibition, a detailed description of the "Mrs. Penicillin" exhibition dedicated to the creator of penicillin, Z.V. Ermolyeva, is provided.

Keywords: virtual Exhibition, Common Digital Space of Scientific Knowledge, Madame Penicillin, related data, Z.V. Yermolyeva.

Technology for Filling Subject Ontologies of the Scientific Knowledge Space

Nikolay Evgenievich Kalenov
101-115
Abstract:

Subject ontology in the context of this article is understood as a set of key concepts related to a certain field of science, with their semantic connections, supplemented by indexes of various classification systems describing this scientific field. Subject ontologies are a necessary component of each subspace that is part of the Unified digital space of scientific knowledge (DSSK). This article presents the results of research related to the construction of subject ontologies based on the created automated system for supporting terminological dictionaries and suggests a methodology for identifying new key terms in a particular field of science. The proposed methodology is based on the use of existing classification systems in conjunction with citation databases, such as Web of Science and Scopus for English–language publications and the Russian citation index for Russian-language publications. The methodology involves dividing the scientific field into a number of sections in accordance with the selected classification system, extracting from the CSB the core of articles related to each section, and from the articles - new author's keywords, which should constitute, in combination with the corresponding sections of classification systems, the basis of the subject ontologies of this scientific field.

Abstract:

We investigated the current models of the publication and dissemination of scientific knowledge. We describe the modern information management system of scientific publications and services that determine their functionality.

We discuss the concept of the digital infrastructure of the electronic scientific journal. Under this infrastructure, we understand the complex that combines management software platform of electronic journal and a number of specialized information systems. The software platform realizes the basic operating log management processes. Information systems provide the operation of additional services, taking into account the specifics of the journal subject area.

We present an approach to the organization of the digital infrastructure of the scientific journal based on an open platform Open Journal Systems (OJS). We provide software services that extend the functionality of this platform and considering specificity of the subject area of scientific journals. We have created software modules for automating of electronic scientific journal workflow. These modules are an extension of OJS.

We present a system of services for the automated processing of collections of scientific documents. These services provide verification of document compliance to the accepted rules of formation of collections and their conversion to the established formats; structural analysis of documents and extraction of metadata, as well as their integration into the scientific information space. The system allows to automatically performing a set of operations that cannot be realized for acceptable time with the traditional manual processing of electronic content. It is designed for the large collections of scientific documents.

Algorithms style validation of texts at the article registration stage in the information system of electronic scientific journal, the selection of reviewers, alert and control the timing of reviewing were automated. Information gathering algorithm with dedicated news lines of scientific journals, further analysis and distribution of news by categories and degrees of importance were developed. The algorithm automatically extract bibliographic data from a homogeneous array of publications (in particular, the issues of the scientific journal) and the formation of metadata blocks for export to international information and analytical system were created. Methods integration of OJS platform and international databases of science citation were developed.

We present methods of processing documents containing mathematical formulas: in the collections of documents that contain mathematical formulas, algorithm for the search formulas is developed; basic ideas, approaches and results already obtained by the mathematical knowledge management based on ontology are presented; a method of constructing recommender systems based on mathematical knowledge ontologies described. The method of primary processing automated of scientific article using TеX-notation developed.

The new direction of researches of scientific communications in the environment of Web 2.0 – altmetrics – is considered. We have analyzed the content of the notion «altmetrics», we conducted a comparison of traditional (bibliometric and scientometric) and alternative indicators. We describe the use of world experience informetric services on scientific journals sites. We discussed options for implementing these approaches to create an electronic scientific journal management platform.
