The work is devoted to the design of the concept of the metaverse, as a new look at the methods of popularizing scientific knowledge through user interaction with the virtual environment. The features of the construction of metaverses and the technological solutions necessary for its implementation are considered.

The work is devoted to the development and implementation of a CMS engine for creating popular science portals on geology with the subsequent implementation of an adaptive version of the popular science portal “History of the Earth: a geological perspective”. The following were selected and implemented as the basic entities of the engine being developed: “main page”, “article”, “gallery”, “video”, “3D-Earth”, “timeline”, “time component” and “3D Exhibit”. As a result of the work done, a popular science portal was created that allows us to study our planet in the context of time intervals, events and artifacts.

This paper discusses analysis of the current state of the popular scientific Portal “History of the Earth: geological perspective”, the prospects for its development and options overview for its further development. The direction of further development of this resource will be the transformation of the structure of information presentation and navigation on the basis of modern requirements for web resources.

This work is related to the development of a high-tech popular science Internet portal "History of the Earth". The developed resource sets as its main goal the popularization of modern scientific geological knowledge using popular science multimedia content and software tools for interactive work with it. The Internet resource is intended for schoolchildren and students, as well as a wide range of Internet users.
