Towards Virtual Data Centres for Remote Sensing

Е.Б. Кудашев, М.А. Попов
Abstract: Remote Sensing from satellites allow a global perspective on observations of the Earth to be developed. This paper gives an overview of some of the international initiatives that have been created to improve the exploitation of remotely sensed data for environmental studies. The focus is on the activities and scientific challenges facing GEO/GEOSS on Earth Observation. Other relevant international initiatives are also presented, such as CEOS, GMES and APARSEN. The benefits of creating a Virtual Centre of Remote Sensing Data in are also discussed.

Science Data Infrastructure for Access to Earth Observation Satellite Data

Е.Б. Кудашев
Abstract: Virtual research centre of digital preservation in Europe provides a natural basis for long-term consolidation of digital preservation research and expertise. Spatial Data Infrastructure will cover technical methods for preservation, access and most importantly re-use of data holdings over the whole lifecycle; legal and economic issues including costs and governance issues as well as digital rights; and outreach within and outside the consortium to help to create a discipline of data curators with appropriate qualifications. Main tasks of Spatial Data Infrastructure SDI development are building global infrastructure for IT and geodata; satellite information harmonization; usage of agreed upon set of standards; clear documentation describing the parts of the system; interoperability between independently created applications and databases; common standards within their interfaces, protocols and data formats; and finally support of a general data policy for data creation, access, and support of satellite information. Fundamental principle of Russian segment of SDI is providing interoperability – the ability of interaction for heterogeneous services and data catalogues within the bounds of a unified informational system. The Russian segment of distributed informational system has been built on the basis of EOLI-XML and SSE technologies.

Modern approaches to construction of metadata and search services for applications in the field of Earth Sciences

М.А. Попов, Е.Б. Кудашев, С.Ю. Марков, С.А. Станкевич
Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to improve the effectiveness of information retrieval and working with metadata. Approaches to metadata standards are considered, as well as the implementation methods of search procedures in modern web environment. Various aspects for the organization of services of management by spatial metadata are considered. Model for direct usage of heterogeneous spatial information are presented.
Keywords: efficient search, metadata, spatial and non-spatial information.

Use of heterogeneous geospatial data insolving the problems of sustainable development of territories

Е.Б. Кудашев, С.Ю. Марков, М.А. Попов
Abstract: We refer to the problems of integration of heterogeneous geospatial data to solve the problems of sustainable development of territories. The conceptual approaches to build up the e-Science Data infrastructure for permanent access to heterogeneous spatial data are proposed. The main challenges of integrating heterogeneous data are analyzed. A model of integration of geospatial data based on the architecture SOA are developed.
Keywords: geospatial data, heterogeneity, metadata.

The Third All-Russian Symposium "Infrastructure of scientific information resources and systems"

Е.Б. Кудашев, В.А. Серебряков
Abstract: This article analyzes the work of the Third All-Russian Symposium "Infrastructure scientific information resources and systems", held in Sukhum, Abkhazia, 5-8 October 2013. The avalanche growth of electronic content required the development of new approaches to storage and continuous access to digital scientific data. Of particular interest are the current scientific tasks of creating spatial data infrastructures. Symposium traditionally discusses issues related to the integration of geographic information resources and free access to them, research e-Infrastructures to form a distributed scientific information resources, development of related directories and create a network of integrated, interoperable databases. The development of e-Science Infrastructures should be the basis of emerging systems for collective work of researchers based on a virtual integration of information and computing resources. The main focus of the Third Symposium were questions the use of modern approaches to technology development of information systems to the problems of informational support of scientific research.
Keywords: digital content, scientific data, the formation of digital infrastructure, continuous access and long-term storage of data.

Digital Library of Satellite Data and Development of Information Infrastructure for access to Space data

Е.Б. Кудашев, А.Н.

Development of e-Infrastructure for permanent access to scientific resources: creation of Spectral databank of Remote Sensing data

М.А. Попов, Е.Б. Кудашев, С.П. Ковальчук, С.А. Пикулик, С.А. Станкевич, С.Ю. Марков
Abstract: When studying natural and artificial objects using satellite technology spectral data containing information on the distribution of reflecting / emitting properties of physical objects and materials by wavelength are of great importance. It should be noted that the prompt receipt of necessary spectral data from the above mentioned sources is usually the problem. This paper describes an approach to the development of the Bank of the spectral data that has advanced features that enable to realize not only the inquiry and search procedure, but rather a wide range of computational and applied procedures related to the spectral data and their attributes. Based on a systematic analysis of the subject area and the relational database model, a scheme, implemented by means of MS Access. A simple scheme of integration the database in the e-Infrastructure of permanent access to scientific resources of remote sense data is offered.
Keywords: Digital Libraries, Satellite technologies, Spectral databank, e-Infrastructure for Permanent access, Remote Sensing data.
